Scripting Lessons
Task 1 Lesson Plan Format & Terminology
This task is to be completed in Session 2.
Description
Teachers study generic lesson plans and match the English headings provided with their Bahasa Melayu equivalents in the lesson plan outlines.
Materials Required
As in Teacher's Module
Purpose
The purpose of this task is to familiarize teachers with the English equivalents of Bahasa Melayu headings in generic lesson plans for mathematics and science
Suggested Instructional Sequence
1. Ask teachers for terms or section headings used in writing lesson plans. Write teachers' responses on the board. Accept Bahasa Melayu words if they are not sure of the English equivalents.
2. Provide a brief explanation of the task. Emphasize that teachers must write in the appropriate English equivalents in the spaces provided next to the Bahasa Melayu headings.
3. Ask teachers to complete the task in groups of four.
4. Discuss the answers with the whole class. Elicit other suitable alternatives that could be used in place of some of the given labels.
5. Discuss the similarities and differences between the mathematics and science lesson plan outlines.
